Kristin Lynn Berg's Obituary
Born on June 6, 1967 in Pasadena, California, Kristin was the 1st of 6 children. Her parents were Martha and Lyle Knudson. Because her parents were missionaries, they lived in various places, but most notably she recalled fond memories with her siblings in a small village in Oaxaca, Mexico known as Mitla. She loved sharing stories about befriending birds, playing outside, and what an interesting experience it was to live in a mud hut, socializing with other children learning Spanish and local dialect. Following that experience, she moved with her family to San Diego and graduated from Patrick Henry High School, class of 1986. She was proud of her work in modeling, volunteer work at her local hospital, and airport security. During a hiking trip with her church, she met John Berg who she later married. Together they had 4 children. They lived together in Washington State with their children from 1993-2000 before moving back to San Diego, California. They were married for 16 years before their divorce in 2008. After that, she spent the rest of her life travelling, hiking, and caring for small animals with her travelling companion, Clay Sharp.
She was a strong believer as a Christian, and she wrote about her beliefs extensively in her various poems reflecting on life, love and spiritual relationship. She loved singing for her church choir as a child at College Avenue Baptist Church and as an adult at the Christian Service Center in Winterhaven, California. Some of her favorite songs and artists were Landslide by Stevie Nicks, Amy Grant, Nickleback, One Republic, and Michael W. Smith.
Her favorite things to do were reading, exploring various trails, adding to her many collections including rocks, shells, and unique cottage-like keepsakes throughout her travels, painting, drawing, and writing stories and poems.
She would describe herself as, stubborn, rebellious, adventurous, creative, and artistic.
She is survived by her 4 children, Jessica, Jennifer, Gavin, and James as well as her 5 siblings, Darin, Sara, Gavin, Eric and Marc and her parents, Lyle and Martha.
