Larry E. Crossley's Obituary
Larry was born in Salina Kansas, and moved to San Diego when he was 6. He may not have been a native, but got here as soon as he could! He graduated from La Jolla High School, served in the army during the Korean War, and then married his beautiful wife of 61 years, Joan Hinds Crossley. Larry was a kind and gentle soul. He never met a child or animal that didn’t love him. He came to know Jesus as his savior in 1962, thanks to his dear friend, AC Justice. His three daughters could not have had a more loving, exemplary dad. Due to his progressing Alzheimer’s, three years ago, his family decided that the best option was for him to be with one of his three daughters who lived in Texas. In spite of the support he had, he never lost his desire to return home, to San Diego. His wife, Joan kept her promise and now he has returned home. Remembering him with love and missing him in his absence is Joan, his daughters Debby Crossley-Tyler, Gale Crossley and Cheryl Crossley-Harper. Larry was adored by his countless number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and to them, was only known as Poppy. His bright smile, silly faces, animal “bites,” and love of ice cream will never be forgotten. “You scream, I scream, we all scream for ice cream!”-Poppy To help stop this horrible disease, in honor of Larry, please donate to the San Diego chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, so that we can find a cure, once and for all.
