Laura Jean Black, a devoted advocate for education and nonprofit development, passed away peacefully in San Diego on April 3, 2025, at the age of 69. Born in California to Raymond Lee Black and Jolene Baldridge, Laura dedicated her life to learning, service, and community enrichment.
After earning her Ph.D., Laura spent 35 years as a Development Director in the education sector, tirelessly working to create opportunities for students and underserved communities. Her leadership and vision left a lasting impact, fostering growth and innovation in nonprofit organizations.
A lifelong resident of San Diego, Laura cherished her home city and contributed to its vibrant educational landscape. Known for her intellect, compassion, and unwavering commitment to her work, she was an inspiration to colleagues, friends, and loved ones.
Laura’s legacy lives on through the many lives she touched and the lasting changes she championed in education and nonprofit development. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.
