Lenora Rhodes' Obituary
Our dear sweet and wonderful Mama, Lenora Rhodes, was born March 9, 1928 to proud parents Robert and Willie Mae George in Elizabeth Town, North Carolina, who preceded herin death and with whom she is now resting. Her older brother, and her only sibling, Reginald George, also preceded her in death, along with other relatives, namely, Andrew Carter, Sparkle Wyatt, Demetrius Wyatt, Bobby Rhodes, Bennie D. Wyatt and Jessie B. Rhodes.Leonora and her parents moved to San Diego in Southern California at a very young age and there she remained the rest of her life. Lenora loved learning which led her to pursue her Master’s degree in Psychology from San Diego State University. She was an avid reader, who loved to read her Bible and other religious literature, various newspapers, (which she was still subscribing to until her passing) and she got tremendous joy from doing the crossword puzzle in the New York Times. She also loved gardening and used to enjoy looking at the various plants, flowers and trees that adorned her beautiful backyard, as she engaged in her favorite pastime, reading.During her working years, Lenora kept reinventing herself. She worked in the laundry business for many years before deciding to change careers by going to work for the Internal Revenue Service. However, she craved for more job satisfaction so she again changed careers and went to work as a Director of a Children’s Daycare, which she thoroughly enjoyed and found fulfilling, due to her love for children. Lenora was a kind, loving and compassionate individual who was always willing to share whatsoever she had. Like Dorcas in the Bible, she gave of her best and did so with tact and sensitivity. She was a Seventh Day Adventist Christian who loved the Lord and who attended church regularly until she was no longer able to attend. Lenora also embraced technology and as such enjoyed listening to religious music sung by her favorite group, the Oakwood Aeolians, on YouTube on her tablet. On Monday, April 30, 2018, Lenora passed peacefully. Those left to cherish her memory include her loving children, Clifton Andrew (Paulet) Carter, Benita Carol Wyatt-Story, Robert Earl Wyatt, Anthony Lavander Rhodes and Cheryl Renee Rhodes; grandchildren, Erica (James) Wallace, William Carter, Robyn Wyatt, Shani Doles, Robert Wyatt Jr.; great grandchildren, Trevoxi Spencer, Justin Wyatt, Ashley Wyatt, Demetrius Wyatt Jr., Khalis Wyatt, Khalil Wyatt, A.J. Wyatt and Robert Wyatt Jr.; great great grandchild, Noah Jeremiah Spencer.Lenora’s family was her pride and joy and that was evident in the way she would light up when she received a call, a text or a picture from any of her family members. Our dearly beloved mother, grandmother, friend and confidante will surely be missed.
