Leola Newman's Obituary
Leola Carter Newman, 86, a long-time resident of San Diego, California passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2015. Her untimely death has left family and friends, and loved ones in shock with disbelief.Leola was a devoted wife and mother. Born in Natchitoches, Louisiana and raised in Alexandria, Louisiana, she moved north to Waukegan, Illinois while in her 20’s. She remained in the Waukegan Area until her son Willie Carter graduated from college and married. She then decided to move to San Diego, California to restart her life and to be close to her sister Rosa L. Carter- Stiggers.She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Eddie Paul Newman, Sr.; brothers Will Carter, Jr., Eugene Carter, and Leroy Carter; sisters Alice S. Carter, Cora L. Carter-Benjamin, Emma L. Carter Thomas and Pearl Carter-Johnson. She decided to move back to the Chicago, Illinois area to be near her son and her granddaughters. In route to Chicago by train she passed away near Gallup, New Mexico.Leola Carter Newman is survived by her cherished son Willie of Highland Park, Illinois; sister Rosa Stiggers of Beltsville, Maryland; granddaughters Devin Carter of Chicago, and Melissa Carter of Brooklyn, New York; great-grandson Devin Samuel Robinson of Brooklyn, New York; nieces Linda Yancey of Beltsville, Maryland, and Margaret Phillips of Houston, Texas.The eternal void that will be felt by her in-laws, other relatives and friends is immeasurable.
