Liliya Grantovna Dzhavadova's Obituary
Liliya was born on November 16, 1944 in Baku, Azerbaijan, a Republic of the Soviet Union, to Grant Gevorkyan and Praskovia Selifanova. She was the second of five children, growing up in an Armenian/Russian household. After high school, Liliya worked for a polyclinic in Baku as a records keeper. She married Viktor Dzhavadov on April 29, 1966, and they raised their two sons, George and Sergei, there. In 1989, they left for Moscow after violence erupted in Baku and eventually in 1992, immigrated to the United States to join their eldest son, George.
In San Diego, Liliya settled into her new role as Babulia, grandmother to Lucia, Sergei, and later, Audrey, Victor and Nicholas. She took classes for Fashion Design, sewed most of her own clothing, read extensively on plants, but most of all, she loved cooking for her family.
Liliya was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Valerik, and her sister, Lora. She is survived by her husband, Viktor; sons and daughters in-law, George Javadian and Irina Asratova, and Sergei Javadoff and Polly Ann Najarian; grandchildren Lucia Dzhavadov, Sergei Javadian, and Audrey, Victor and Nicholas Javadoff; sisters, Alla Grigoryan and Olya Gevorkyan, and nieces, Lina, Natasha, and Julia and their families.
