Lillie Beatrice Covington's Obituary
The Homegoing Celebration of Lillie B. Covington Lillie B. Covington was the youngest of 7 children born to will and Della Kendrick on May 28th, 1926 in a little town called Stamp, Arkansas. She confessed faith in Christ at an early age. Then as a teenage girl Lillie came out to California where she would reside with her older sister Bernice. Lillie completed her high school education at San Diego High School. Shortly thereafter, she would meet her better half, John Covington, who was in the Navy. To this union 3 children were born, Marcia, Leatha, and their only son Gregory who along with his father preceded her in death. In addition to 3 children, she had a special son-in-law Kenneth Corley. Lillie will reunite with mom, dad and her 6 siblings, James, Forrest, Lewis, Aree, Bernice, and Ardrean in Heaven. Both John and Lillie were committed members of Bethel A.M.E. Church where she maintained her membership until death. She was a faithful and dutiful member of the church. She was an usher and stewardess. Lillie worked civil service as an Aircraft Technician and retired from North Island. Lillie who was known as “Nana” to family, friends and the neighborhood was an avid fan of the L.A. Dodgers. Anybody that knew Nana knew that she loved to shop, garden, and sow; making herself blouses and two piece suits. We all know her favorite store next to Macy’s was Yardage Town. The Lord called Nana home on Tuesday evening August 2nd, 2016. Though we will miss her, she will be remembered for her kind, loving, and nurturing spirit. Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Marcia Covington and Leatha Covington-Corley of San Diego; 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and a host of relatives and friends.
