Linda Lee Greene's Obituary
After an interminable battle with cancer, Linda Lee Greene was called home on March 8, 2017 in San Diego, CA at the age of 62. She leaves behind her, son LaTonne Singleton of Stockton California, her daughters Tisa Green (Darrell Green) of Northern California; Destiny, Alexandria, and Desiree Greene of San Diego and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and loved ones. She will be missed but lives on in the hearts all.Linda was born on September 28, 1954 in San Diego to father Mose Lee Jr. and mother Cora Lee Lee who predeceased her. She grew up in a large, loving family with three brothers and two sisters. She excelled in beauty as a student of cosmetology, but later took a career with the government as a military sales associate. Later Linda retired as a sales supervisor with over forty years of dedicated service. She retired to care for her husband James W. Greene who predeceased her. As well as; care for her mother Cora.Linda married James W. Greene of the United States Navy in April 1982. He was not just marrying Linda. He was to also accept her son LaTonne and daughter Tisa as well as; her large family. After their marriage they lived in San Diego and Long Beach California. Shortly after Jim’s retirement and returning to San Diego, they expanded their family with three daughters. There the couple lived and raised their five children.Linda was a driven professional with a love of family and togetherness. She gathered her family together to eat her food of love. She would say “Ain’t no cooking like Linda Greene’s cooking.” “I can cook those greens.” Her favorite motto, “ A closed mouth doesn’t get fed.” If she was cooking she wanted everyone over to eat. There was always a party at the house.When diagnosed with cancer in 2017, she remained dedicated in her will to fight her illness. She remained a brave, iron-willed woman, even throughout her final few months. She exuded her love and shared to let people live the way in which they pleased, not judging one another, to be kind and soft spoken. She expressed her love for all. Her dedicated friends and love ones who cared for her; she so graciously appreciated. She wanted everyone to be happy and know that she was at peace and happy living her life enjoying it the way she pleased. Her vibrance for life lived on in her beautiful smile and laughter.Linda is survived by her children as well as her sisters, Gloria Williams and Carol Williams, grand and great-grand children, numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Billy, Ronnie and Larry.Linda is interred at the family plot in Greenwood Memorial Cemetery. A celebration of life at Mission Bay Beach Park will follow; you are welcome. The family would especially like to thank all that were there to help care for Linda who treated her with love and care and the Greenwood Memorial Gardens for honoring the arrangements.
