Lois Ada Lancaster's Obituary
Lois was born in Blunt, South Dakota during a blizzard, delivered by a somewhat inebriated doctor. She was the only daughter of Kenneth and Janet Peterson, little sister of Lowell. The family moved to California around 1943 where her baby brother Eddie was born in 1946.
In her teens Lois sold corn where Mission Valley shopping center is and worked at stables where Fashion Valley mall is now. She worked at Convair, and retired from Adohr Farms.
Lois married the love of her life, Bill Lancaster October 27, 1984. She embraced all of Bill’s 6 children as her own.
Lois loved kids and related so well to them. She was the most special and fun aunt, not only to her five nieces, but to many neighborhood kids, too, all of whom called her Aunty Lois. She enjoyed and had such a gift for engaging with people of all ages. She was interested in their stories, remembered them, the names of their family members, and even their birthdays.
Lois had many talents and interests. She was a member of the Jobe’s Daughter Royal Court, once owned a race horse, and volunteered at Sharp Hospital. She took up golfing with Bill, took art lessons and painted beautiful landscapes (and a clown) that adorn the homes of family members. She also took ballet and Country Western dance classes.
Lois loved reading. She liked sharing her books, articles and the comics from the paper with family and friends when they seemed to reflect what was happening in their lives at the time. They often helped us laugh at ourselves and cheered us up.
Lois became the keeper of the family history, sharing memories that were personal and passed down. We will miss her and her stories of those who came before us. We are so glad that she was part of our lives for so many years.
