Forest, Lorenzo's Obituary
Lorenzo was born September 11, 1947, in Memphis, Tennessee, to the late Herman and Gertrude Forest. He shared a particularly close bond with his mother, whose love and guidance remained a cornerstone throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his siblings: James Forest, Catherine Forest, Herman Forest Jr., and Mildred Jean May.
A proud graduate of Hamilton High School, Class of 1965, Lorenzo distinguished himself as a talented athlete. He excelled in football, earning recognition during his senior year, and also played baseball throughout all four years of high school. In addition to his athletic pursuits, he was musically gifted where his smooth voice left a lasting impression.
Following his graduation in 1965, Lorenzo enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and honorably served his country during the Vietnam War.
Throughout his life, Lorenzo built a remarkable and diverse career, working for the National Steel and Shipbuilding Company, Gallo Wine Company, and Pepsi Co. He later dedicated over 25 years of service to the San Diego Community College District. During his tenure, he made a meaningful impact on the lives of many employees, serving as an active union member and a strong advocate for workers’ rights.
Encouraged by his devoted wife, Berdie Forest, Lorenzo pursued higher education while continuing his full-time career and maintaining his deep commitment to family. In 2000, he proudly earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration Management from San Diego State University.
Lorenzo is survived by his loving wife, Berdie Forest and two daughters (from his first union with Elizabeth Forest) Melinda Condry (Daryle Condry) and their daughter Mackenzie Condry, Misty Forest ;and adopted daughter Isla Morgan-Forest.
He is also fondly remembered by his stepchildren, George Morgan and Torin Childress. George Morgan is the parent of Kayla, Kevin, and Lita Morgan. Torin Childress and his wife, Abigail, are the proud parents of Torin Kingston and Ava Childress.
Lorenzo’s grandchildren brought immense joy to his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
He will be remembered for his unwavering integrity, positive spirit, warm smile, and genuine kindness. Lorenzo was a loyal friend with a compassionate presence, touching the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was fondly called “The Mayor of Westby “by the neighborhood.
Lorenzo’s warmth, creativity, and generous love for family and friends will never be forgotten. His presence made others feel at home, and his legacy lives on in the many lives he touched.
