Louise Marie McClure's Obituary
Born on September 28, 1930, in Hinsdale, Illinois, Louise was the second of two children. Her parents were Albin (A.W) and Josephine (Jo) Swanson, and her older brother was John Swanson. She attended Calumet High School in Chicago and the College of Saint Teresa in Winona, MN, where she earned a B.S. in Dietetics.
After graduation, she began her career as a Hospital Dietician. She lived in Chicago, New Orleans, Morro Bay, and South Pasadena before setting down in San Diego where her husband Bruce McClure established his medical practice, and they raised their four children. She was married to Bruce until his passing in 1992.
Special friends include Frankie and John Volk, next-door neighbors for more than 50 years. Louise was a longtime member of the Church of Saint Mary Magdalene.
Louise was generous, friendly, thoughtful, inquisitive, intelligent, and had a great sense of humor. She especially loved traveling the world and spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed reading books and newspapers - and sharing articles with family. She was a top-notch bridge player, as well as a master cake baker and decorator. She enjoyed listening to Dixieland jazz music, going to the movies, dining out and enjoying great food with friends. Other favorite activities included visiting the San Diego Zoo, attending classes at USD’s University of the Third Age, and joining her neighborhood’s frequent social events.
Louise is survived by her four children: Charlene (Ken), Don, Ken (Lidiya), and Steve (Becki) and six
grandchildren: Steve, Michelle (Chaz), Carter, Benjamin, Alison, and Evelyn.
