Lovolia A. Huff-Davis' Obituary
Lovolia A. Huff-Davis entered this world October 4, 1923, in San Diego, California to the union of Edward Lee Huff, Sr., and Florene Denny-Huff. Both of her parents were gifted in music, dance, and song. Lovolia inherited their gift and from a young child to the end of her life’s journey she perfected it and passed it on to her family, friends, and children. Additionally, she played the piano and performed in the youth choir for the Church of God in Christ. Two of Lovolia’s most memorable performances included one as a child, when she performed for the Marcus Garvey Back to Africa Movement hosted by her Grandfather, George Denny and her mother. The second most memorable performance was when she was hired to act in the role of her grandson, Randy Johnson’s TV grandmother in the hit series “Night Man.” Throughout her life, Lovolia was an avid sports fan faithfully following her favorite teams, the San Diego Padres and the Oakland Raiders. Whenever the grandchildren would offer her a ticket to a game, she was the first one in the car. Anyone who knew Lovolia appreciated her love for dancing and music. “Lovey,” as she was affectionately known by her friends and family, could walk into a room and light it up with her smile. She could make everyone feel a part of her family and inner-circle, dazzling them with her grace, style, and rhythm. People were drawn to her; she personified unconditional love and maintained a positive regard for all. Lovolia never met a stranger and never judged anyone. She exuded love. She had the uncanny ability to show up, be present, and accept people for who they were.Lovolia received her primary and secondary education in the San Diego Unified School District. She retired as an Elevator Operator in the early 1980’s. Lovolia spent her remaining years enjoying her life, her children, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, her great-great grandchildren, as well as her many other family members and friends. During the past eight years, Lovolia became an international citizen, enjoying living with her daughter and son in Chula Vista, CA and her daughter in Rosarito, Baja California. While she did not speak Spanish, Lovolia communicated well using her gift of music, song and dance, and of course, love as her universal language. Lovolia danced her final performance at the San Diego Hospice Facility in January of 2012 (with her daughter Markay) and she took her final bow at home on January 27th, 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Lee Huff, Sr. and Robert and Florene A. Hudgins.Lovolia leaves to cherish her memory her only son, Frank H.
