Dr Ludwig F Ginkel Jr.'s Obituary
Dr. Ludwig F. Ginkel Jr., a longtime resident of Alpine, went home to be with the Lord on February 16, 2017. Ludwig was 83 and is remembered as active family physician that served the East County Community for over 50 years. He was born in Connecticut, son of Ludwig (Sr.) and Susan Ginkel, and moved San Diego as a young child. In his youth he was involved as a Demolay, attended Hoover High school, where he met his wife of 50 years Joanne. He was the first in his family to attend college and graduated from SDSU in 1956. He attended Medical school in Des Moines, Iowa. After a yearlong Internship in Oakland, he returned home to San Diego to begin his practice. He cherished his family, playing violin, flying airplanes, riding motorcycles & loving his many pets. He was active in Faith Chapel’s Orchestra and later on at Alpine Community Church where he served as a Deacon, directed the Children’s Choir and also directed audiovisual services. Ludwig will be deeply missed by all of those whose lives he touched, but his legacy of love and caring for others will live on in those he as left behind. He is survived by son’s Mark and David, (wives Marcy and Karen), grandchildren Tristan, Brandon, Kiersten and Cameron. His wife Joanne, Brother Richard and parents preceded him in death. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Ludwig’s life at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 4th, at Alpine Community Church, 2225 W. Victoria Drive, Alpine California 91901; (619) 445-2110. In lieu of flowers the family asks that, donations be made to Alpine Community Church or Hi-Caliber Horse Rescue.
