Mabel Lee Peterson's Obituary
Our beloved Mabel Lee Peterson (Harper) passed away on December 30, 2015 at 101 years of age here in San Diego. This unique soul was born on July 29, 1914 in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Friends & family members lovingly called her Babe, Mae, Mabel, mom, grandma, aunt, great grandma, and great-great grandmother. She arrived in El Centro, California at the age of 18. She married and had daughter, Barbara Schwiesow. Later, she was married to Alvin Peterson in 1938 and had two children, Ronald and Marcella. She also had a stepson named Bud Peterson. Later in life, Mabel met a wonderful companion, Art Canfil. Mabel spent many hours cooking, being a homemaker, and working in the grocery business. She was funny, witty, and had a remarkable singing voice which will be remembered fondly. Mabel is survived not only by her devoted daughter Marcella Barlow (Husband Richard Barlow) and son Ronald Peterson (Wife Nancy Paterson) but also by countless grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.A gravesite service will take place on Friday, January 15, 2016 at 11:00 am at Greenwood Mortuary with a gathering of family & friends.
