In Loving Memory of Mack Brady Shelby Sunrise on September 24, 1922 – Sunset on November 2, 2014On September 24, 1922, in Lewisville, Arkansas, God blessed Shedrick Meshack and Pinkie (Brown) Shelby with a beautiful son, named Mack Brady Shelby. Mack was the second son of four siblings. He was proud of being the second son as he called himself a “Country Boy.” The family gave him the nickname “MB”. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age at St. James Baptist Church in Lewisville, Arkansas. Mack attended the public schools in Lewisville where he received his formal education. In 1943, along with his Father and Brother, Mack moved to San Diego, CA to establish his residency. He attended Second Baptist Church of Linda Vista, CA. Some years later, the family relocated across town, he then changed membership to Calvary Baptist Church. A hard working gentleman, Mack worked various jobs and he served in the United States Army during World War II. On a beautiful June day Mack was united in matrimony to Evelyn Bradford. This union produced three sons, Andre, Dino and Mack Jr. Mack served as a Civil Service Employee for the Federal Government for thirty six years. He worked at the Naval Air Station, North Island, in the Automotive division. Mack had a love for fishing and hunting and enjoyed this in his spare time. In September of 1969, Mack met his loving wife Etoye and was united in marriage to her. Mack made the Greater Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church his final church home under the leadership of Dr. Luther Elgra Thompson. Mack and Etoye both enjoyed each others company, going fishing, playing cards, dominoes, cooking and traveling. After retiring, Mack and his wife Etoye spent time working his second love, Foster Care. Together they provided supervision and parenting to more than eleven hundred children over the years helping them into adulthood. Mack was also known for his good cooking and was the House Chef for the children he served. Many of them would return to enjoy his barbecues, peach cobblers, fish frys and other soul filling foods. He continued fishing taking his boat out to all the lakes in the San Diego and Arizona areas. In his recent years although his health began to fail, he chose to keep a positive spirit and still enjoyed spending time outdoors taking in the warmth of beautiful sunny days. Mack Brady Shelby leaves many to cherish and hold dear his life contributions and memories including his sister Lucille Harris of Los Angeles, CA, his brother James H. Shelby and wife Lorna of Placentia, CA, and his Son Mack B. Shelby Jr. of San Diego, CA. He also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and foster children. Both of Mack*s Parents, Wife Etoye Shelby, Stepmother Arlean Shelby, Sister Corrine Shelby, Brothers Willie Shelby and Marvin Dwayne Shelby, Sons Andre Shelby and Dino Shelby and Evelyn “Branford-Johnson” Shelby preceded him in death.TapsDay is done, gone the sun, From the lake, from the hill, from the sky.
