Malayphone Kounlavongsa was born on Friday, March 22nd, 1963 in Laos, where she lived until she moved to San Diego, CA. Her parents were Kamptou Phrasavath and Manivung Sithideth, she was the 1st of 4 children. She attended college and began her career as a singer. She was a member of the Salvation Army Church. Her special friends were Savangthong, Phet, Phen, Joy and bonnie. Malay was very much involved in Laotian Community Entertainment; she was funny, loving, caring, honest and strong. Her most important events of her life were loving all of her children and singing for the community. Her favorite hobbies were dancing, gambling and singing; one of her favorite songs was “Power of Love” by Celine Dion. Malay was survived by, her three (3) sons: Sonny, James and Bobby; her daughter: Susan; and her three (3) siblings.
