Manuel D. Durazo's Obituary
My grandmother, Maria de Jesus, gave birth to my dad, Manuel Durazo Durazo, at 7 months old; on a cold day of March 12, 1929 in Bisbee, Arizona she did her best to keep my dad warm by holding him close to the oven. He was so small that he fit in a shoe box and a wedding band could be used as a bracelet.Dad’s parents, Loreto Durazo Montano and Maria de Jesus Durazo Soqui were born in a small town called Villa Hermosa, Sonora Mexico. They were second cousins, that’s why my dad, is Durazo Durazo. My dad had five sisters, Maria, Beatriz, Maria del Refugio, Angelita and he was the youngest. My dad was a happy, rambunctious kid. A story that we all know is a classic one is when his father worked in a tobacco field. When my dad was about 8 years old, he would hide in the field so that he could grab a tobacco leaf, rolled it up and smoked it! My aunt Angelita would find him smoking it and she would do her best in chasing him if she was lucky to catch him she would give him a spanking! My dad grew up to be a responsible and hard working man. My dad, who enjoyed life to the fullest spend his time dancing, sharing laugher and drinks with his buddies and playing baseball. He then married Maria Herrera Fimbres on December 6, 1952. They had 6 children, five boys, Manuel Jr., Enrique, Rene, Oscar, Alfredo, one daughter, Guadalupe, 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, who he loved very much.He loved his pets, Moso, dad’s favorite dog, a cat named Colorado (Spanish) and a Cockatoo. What we will always remember of dad, was that he was such compassionate man that had a big loving heart. His kindness towards all, and his presents being there for his wife, children and grandchildren is what we will miss the most.My dad passed away at Scripps Mercy Hospital on January 10, 2010 at 6:15 p.m. By his side was his caring daughter, Guadalupe.Rest in Peace Dad… We will always love you.
