Darlene Johnson June 8, 1922 – September 19, 2014Born as Margaret Darlene Johnson in Smith Center, Kansas, she moved to La Mesa at age 20. She was known by all as Darlene all her life.Darlene lived a great 92 years being a loving, caring, and devoted friend, daughter, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Quinton, and their daughter, Vicki Langley.She is survived by her three granddaughters and their partners: Diana Heaton and Scott Helbert; Sharon Churchill and Kevin Kelly; Cari Langley and Mike Johnson, five great-grandchildren and a great great grandchild.Darlene and Quinton sang in the Faith Presbyterian Church choir for 50 years. For many years she performed in a trio with her two aunts, and was a member of the Sweet Adelines.She always had a kind word and smile for everyone, and was never known to say a negative thing about anyone.In her spare time, she enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, camping, watching baseball, knitting and taking care of others. Darlene touched so many lives, even some that she was unaware of. She is greatly missed by all those that she met in her lifetime.____________________________Two Smiling EyesTwo smiling eyes are sleeping, Two busy hands are still.
