Margaret Ann Myers' Obituary
Margaret Ann Myers was born on March 17, 1933, in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was the first of three beautiful daughters born to Elmira Girdy Carter and Douglas Carter. From the very beginning, Margaret was a shining light in her family—a baby girl who would grow into a remarkable woman and become the very embodiment of grace, strength, and leadership. In the years that followed, her cherished sisters, Lila V. Matthews and Dorothy Franklin, would join her, completing a trio of extraordinary women.
Out in Corpus Christi, Margret and her sisters formed a bond so deep that stood the test of time, which is now cemented in our family. Through the challenges of an uncertain era, Margaret remained resilient and driven, by choosing a path to study nursing. Her loving and nurturing character led her to a career in healthcare for seniors by tending to their daily needs with patience, dignity, and love.
Robert and Margaret Myers began building their beautiful legacy in Texas, where they welcomed the first generation of their family with their beloved children: sons Danny Myers, Robert “Bobby” Myers I and daughters Belinda Myers (Cloy) and Roberta Myers (Smith).
Margaret’s journey later led her to San Diego, where her husband was stationed during his time in the Army. It was there in San Diego where their family continued to grow, welcoming 3 more sons—, Avery (Ajamu) Myers, Robert “Baby” Myers II, and Michael Myers—and five more daughters: Yvonne Myers, Denise Myers,Dana Myers,Danette Myers and Latashia Myers Cloy-Thompson.
As a devoted homemaker, Margaret poured her heart into raising her twelve children, creating a home filled with warmth, love, and unwavering faith. She balanced strength and softness with grace, making sure every child felt seen, supported and cared for. But her care didn’t stop at her front door-Margaret also served her community by welcoming many not only in her home but also her heart.
She was a quiet but powerful force for good, helping to shape not just a family, but created an unbreakable bond with each and every member of her village, treating everyone as if they were her own. Loyal, dependable, and deeply rooted in love, she was the shoulder anyone could lean on—day or night—without question offering words of kindness which inspired hope.
She wasn’t just the matriarch; she was the heartbeat of every gathering. Margaret loved the simple joys of life—playing cards and dominoes, especially her beloved game of 5000 or a competitive round of spades with her daughter Dana. The sounds of blues and oldies filled the room, often accompanied by her laughter, her dance moves, and the clatter of dominoes hitting the table. And when it came to casinos—Margaret, our “Lady of Luck,” lit up with excitement. She loved her late-night trips to the slot machines, often with daughters by her side until the morning sun peeked over the horizon.
Through it all, Margaret created lasting memories—full of music, joy, and traditions that will live on forever. She touched countless lives with her strength, her wisdom, and a love so immense it could wrap around the world. Her smile and laughter could brighten even the darkest of days, like the San Diego sunshine she adored.
Family traditions and the importance of staying connected were at the very heart of who Moma Myers was—values she carried with pride and passed down through over 4 generations with love and intention. She was the Grand Doyenne of our family: our compass, our strength, our steady light in times of joy and hardship. A beautiful soul, both inside and out.
On April 13, 2025, after giving us 92 years of resilience and grace Margaret Myers—our beloved matriarch—was called home to be with the Lord. Her journey here on Earth was one of love, strength, and unwavering devotion to all.
