Margaret Stroop Wells' Obituary
Margaret Ann (Peggy) Stroop Wells 94, of Point Loma, San Diego, CA, passed away on August 16, 2022. Peggy was born on September 19, 1927, to Esther and PD Stroop in Baltimore Maryland. Peggy was a terrific big sistah to PD (Mike) Stroop Jr., Barbara Stroop Draddy and Patrick Allen Stroop. After Business College, Peggy met the handsome Lt. John T Wells, III in Hawaii where her father was stationed. They married on October 9, 1948, and had 3 Boys, John T. (Jay) Wells, IV, M. Christopher Wells, and David Allen Wells. In 1974, Peggy and John retired and embraced the San Diego lifestyle. They lived close to family, and she was able to watch her family grow from her Point Loma perch. Peggy was an epic storyteller, spinning tales from the past that would always capture her audience. The more her bright blue eyes sparkled, the better the story was weaved. Peggy was a true daughter of Hawaii, living there as a Navy Junior then a Navy Wife and Mother. Peggy had a heart of gold and never met a stranger as everyone was just a friend she hadn’t met yet. Her love and spark for life will be deeply missed by all. Peggy was predeceased by her parents, VAdm. PD Stroop and Esther Stroop, husband Capt. John T. Wells, III, son M. Christopher Wells, brother Cdr. PD (Mike) Stroop, Jr. and sister Barbara Stroop Draddy. She is survived by sons John T. (Jay) Wells, IV (Marty) and David Wells (Froukje), grandson Christopher Joseph (Tiff) Wells (Tayrn), brother Cdr. Patrick Allen Stroop (Mary) and (10) nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Greenwood Memorial Park, San Diego at the Salli Lynn Chapel on November 5, 2022, at 11:00am with reception following. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Friends of Iolani Palace, an organization Peggy felt strongly about. https://www.iolanipalace.org/donations-membership/individual-giving/individual-giving-form/
