Maria Bagares' Obituary
Maria Clara “Ynday” Bagares peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, October 14, 2016, at Magnolia Post Acute Care in El Cajon, California. She was 93 years old.Maria was born on May 19, 1923 in Sogod, Southern Leyte, Philippines to Gregorio Palco Bagares and Manuela Rodriguez Monte de Ramos. Her siblings were Jesus Gregorio, Roberto Pio, Simeona Maximina, Pantaleon Yates, Deterlino Bianco, Divina Deodima, Cecilia Priscila, Francisco Franco, Benito Mussolini, Rebecca Germana, and Ligaya Grema.During World War II, Maria was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary Corps in the Philippines. In 1979, she immigrated to San Diego to join her daughter Leticia. She worked at Aetna as a medical processing clerk for 18 years until retiring at the age of 75. Maria was an active member of the Young at Heart Association at Bay Terraces Community Park and enjoyed dancing, sewing, gardening, and reading. She will be remembered for her grace, kindness, generosity, and fashionable sense of style.Maria was preceded by her husband Ananias Faelnar her first husband Edilberto Fumar, her children Maria Liza and Lillian, and her grandchild Sheila. She is survived by daughters Leticia, Christina, Evelyn, and Marie Ann; stepson Mel; 9 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.Friends and family are welcome to attend a visitation on Monday, October 24, 2016 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, beginning with a vigil service at 6:00 pm at the Garden Chapel at Greenwood Memorial Park and Mortuary. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. Michael Catholic Church followed by interment at Greenwood Memorial Park and Mortuary. The family would like to thank the nursing staff, doctors, and other caregivers at the facilities that cared for Maria over the years.
