Maria Botello De Lora's Obituary
Our hearts are heavy as we announce the passing of Maria De Los Angeles Botello de Lora, a beloved mother, devoted wife, and doting grandmother and great-grandmother. Maria's courageous battle with cancer ended on November 8, 2024. She was 75 years of age.
Born in Mexico City on August 2, 1949, Maria was raised by her aunt Mercedes Acuña Botello. There she was taught a strong work ethic. At the age of sixteen she went to seek her way in the world to Tijuana, Mexico where she worked as a waitress and met the love of her life and future husband Jesus Hector Lora. From Tijuana, they decided to go to live in Culiacan, Sinaloa where she gave birth to both their children, Hector, and Ana. In 1977 they headed to San Diego, California, a city they would call home for the remainder of their lives. There, she devoted herself to raising her children and helped her husband as well by working as a housekeeper for many years. As with her children, she was always there for her grandchildren as a voice of reason, a tender comforter, and just a sweet, sweet grandmother that always loved to see her grandchildren with a smile and especially well fed.
Maria’s ever-nurturing spirit, determined devotion, and unwavering love will forever reside in the hearts of those closest to her. Her impact on the ones who knew her was emotional in nature. She warmed everyone’s hearts with her passion for cooking. Holidays were always festive and filled with the delightful aromas of her cooking and they always included guests she welcomed with open arms. Always wanting to help, she was a tremendous spirit and will leave us with an absence impossible to fill.
Maria is survived by her husband of over 57 years Jesus Hector, her two children Hector and Ana, eight grandchildren, and three great-grandkids.
