Maria Luisa Estrada's Obituary
Maria Luisa Estrada was born in Chiapas, Mexico, 1928, under the care and guidance of her parents Justo and Genoveva. As the eldest sibling she took responsibility of being the pilar of stability and care for all her siblings Eustaquia, Celia, Catalina, Vicente, Ventura and surviving sibling Mercedes as well as her nieces and nephews. In 1946, at the age of 18 she married Robert Estrada in Los Angeles, CA. They settled in San Diego together where they began to plant her family roots that would blossom into the beautiful family we have become today. God’s presence was an instrumental part of her life and she was always a devoted practicing Catholic. She was an ever present mother who was very involved with her family as well as all the generations that came to be. Her home was always welcoming to family, it was the hub of all big events and so many memories were made throughout time there. Her cooking was legendary, as all the dishes she cooked were made from homemade family recipes infused with love. Even though her life was simple she had endless stories and experiences to always share with anyone that she spoke with.
She was a caring mother to Martha, Gloria, Rebecca, Mary Theresa, Mary Ann, Patricia and Cecilia. She was a compassionate abuelita to Karla, Carina, Nicole, Oscar, Daniel, Rebeca, Adrian, Ernesto, Roberto, Genevieve, Vincent, Alissa, Adan, Bryan and Brandon. She was an ever present great abuelita to Elise, Noah, Sammy, Tommy, Audrey, Avi, Enzo, Emily, Hailey, Nevasin, Alexa, Daniel, Dominic, Natalia, Brianna, Mia, Alex, Gabriella-Giselle, Oliver, Maverick, Baby Hernandez and Lucas. A great great abuelita to Daniel. Even though God has called her to heaven, we all sorely miss her presence. She showed us what unconditional love was and to always have room to forgive others. Her selflessness and compassion reverberated to all of her future family generations and is infinitely impacting. We will always carry her in our memories, as she forged a piece of herself into all of us that came to know her. We know she is at peace now with the love of her life Robert Estrada watching over their daughter Cecilia, dancing away to the music of Glenn Miller’s Moonlight Serenade.
