Maria De Jesus Santana's Obituary
Maria De Jesús was born September 7, 1940 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, México. Daughter to José De Jesús DÃaz and Maria Micaela Loza DÃaz. A wonderful sister to Maria del Sagrario and Consuelo. Her family relocated from Guadalajara, Jalisco to Tijuana, Baja California, México when she was a child. They all then relocated to California. Maria had many jobs throughout her life ranging from being a live-in nanny, a wash and press employee, lampshade assembler, and homemaker, to care provider. She married at the age of 25 in 1964 and years later separated becoming a single parent. She had 3 children, daughter Leticia, and sons Javier and Miguel. Maria was loving, caring, and a very hardworking person. Life was a struggle but she always provided for our family. She was always a devoted mother and grandmother. Family was everything to her. Besides the love for her family she loved music. She had a beautiful voice and she loved to sing. In the late 80s, early 90s she and her parents were part of a senior musical group La Rondalla de Villa Merced. They performed at various events within and out of San Diego County. They even recorded an album. She also liked to dance cumbias and rock-n-roll. Her favorite holiday was Christmas. She loved everything about it but most of all she loved it because family would reunite and we would spend hours eating, opening gifts, playing cards, joking, singing, and laughing. She liked when we’d get together for carne asadas. One of Maria’s many accomplishments was when she became a Naturalized Citizen of the United States of America on November 20, 1998. Sadly on the afternoon of July 1,2015, God called upon her and she is now reunited with her parents (mother passed on May 5, 2015). She leaves behind her daughter Leticia, sons Javier and Miguel, husband Bernardo, 7 grandchildren, her 2 sisters, nieces, and nephews. She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed but she will continue to live in our hearts forever.
