Marian Maxine Abbott's Obituary
Marian Maxine Abbott, 94, passed away at Boulder Creek Post-Acute in Poway, California on August 22nd, 2022. She was born in the Dalles, Oregon January 6th, 1928.
She is survived by: Son Michael Abbott and wife Susan and Susan's daughter Antoinette, Granddaughter Morgan Miyoshi of Great Falls, Montana. Sister-in-law Shirley Porter of Damascus, Oregon and niece Lori Anderson (Scott) of Portland, Oregon. Granddaughter Nikki Loper (Brett) and children Mike, Jessi, and Rebecca. Grand daughter Jennifer Murphy (Chris) and children Reed and Stephanie.
She was married to Kenneth Abbott for 30 years who passed away in 2002. They enjoyed camping, fishing, and crabbing in Oregon with Marians brother Don and wife Shirley. They also enjoyed traveling with them in their trailer across the United States and staying in National and State Parks. Marian was very active in her church Faith Presbyterian in the San Diego State College are where she was a Deacon, visited, and made pies and cakes for sick parishioners. Marian was active in her churches Women's Association and served as an inspiring leader of the Women's Circle for several years. The Presbyterian women of the San Diego Presbytery honored Marian for dedication and years of selfless service by presenting her with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Marian was a fantastic cook and loved family get togethers especially at Christmas when she could cook a turkey and all the trimmings. Following the deaths of her daughter Cheryl Ann in 2008 and son-in-law Conrad Yama Miyoshi in 1997. Marian was very influential in her granddaughter Morgan Miyoshi's life and molded her into the wonderful young woman she is today. Marian was there for every soccer game, ceremony and milestone. Always supporting and loving.
Marians last job was with Simon Levi and Company a large wholesale grocery handling many items of supply and food, including liquor. She started there in 1953 and was in the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. After she retired, she was asked to come back and train new employees.
Marian's funeral service will be a graveside service at Greenwood Memorial Park and Mortuary at 4300 Imperial Ave, San Diego, CA 92113 at 11:00 am on September 13th, 2022. There will be an after service get together at Faith Presbyterian Church at 5075 Campanile Drive, San Diego, CA92115. Marian was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Abbott, her daughter Cheryl Ann Miyoshi (1959-2008) and husband Conrad Yama Miyoshi (1952-1997) and brother Donald Arthur Porter(1933-2015) and her mother Glady's Porter and father Edward A. Porter.
Marian was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother , and loved by all and is greatly missed.
