Marie-Sol Antolin Makil's Obituary
Marie-Sol Makil was a caring wife, mother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend. She left this world suddenly on February 13, 2024 after battling a series of unforeseen medical issues. Just as she had done throughout her life, Marie faced this challenge with a smile and fought courageously till the very end. Though her passing brings deep sorrow, her legacy will live on through the fond memories and rich experiences we had with her.
Born Marie-Sol Antolin Makil on August 9, 1976 in Galimuyod, Ilocos Sur Philippines to Solomon Makil and Asuncion Bugarin, she is the youngest of the three children born into the Makil family. She is survived by the love of her life, Virgil, son, Ernesto Solomon, mother, Asuncion, two brothers, Eric and Boyet, her beloved nieces and nephews, and an 18-year old dog named Twixter.
Marie was a gifted entrepreneur who made her mark in real estate, retail, and the entertainment industry in the US and in Candon, Philippines. She was a selfless and dedicated caregiver for her mother and brother in the US and the sole financial provider for her extended family in the Philippines. The depth and scope of her love, kindness, and generosity were most evident in the way she treated those whom she considered family. She is an adored sister-in-law who nurtured and enveloped everyone in her warmth. She was the caring Aunt who made sure that all her nieces and nephews never wanted for anything.
Always the life of the party, Marie delighted in hosting events at her house and entertaining friends and family. Her passion for singing was infectious. She even taught her Filipino-American nephew Tagalog words through songs. She was a fantastic cook and was the only one in the family who could replicate her mother-in-law's famous recipes. Getting her green thumb from her own mother, who is an avid gardener, Marie delighted in planting vegetables and fruits. She especially liked orchids. Above all, she loved shopping.
Marie will be honored at the Garden Chapel at Greenwood on February 23rd and 24th. Please see details below.
