Marie Valentine Watkins February 14, 1916–January 10, 2016Marie Valentine Watkins was born in Cope, Colorado on February 14, 1916. She passed away at La Mesa, California on January 10, 2016 at the age of 99. Marie was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Robert, and their son Rodney. Marie is lovingly remembered by her children: Robert R. Watkins (Suzanne), Wilton L. Watkins (Lois) Ronald B. Watkins (Phyllis) & Beverly R. Holder (David) and by nine grandchildren: Robert Watkins, Beth Thomas, Cora Jones, Rodney Watkins, Tamara Gingerich, Ronald J. Watkins, Stephanie Siggard, David M. Holder and Christopher Holder. She is lovingly remembered by sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Marie is fondly remembered by her sisters of Atwood, Kansas: Emma May Threlkel and Elma Lee Erickson and her many nieces and nephews. Marie was a member of the Eastern Star, and a Deacon in the Presbyterian Church. She was a role model of love, selflessness, and high standards to her children. Marie loved being the neighborhood “Grandma”. She enjoyed gardening and doing volunteer work. Marie was a “people person”.
