Marilyn Hawley's Obituary
A joyful Marilyn Hawley passed away on June 10th at her home in San Diego.
Marilyn had an adventuresome spirit, enjoying traveling through Europe, visiting National parks, playing tennis, gardening and even learning to Scuba dive.
Marilyn was born in 1950 in Palo Alto, California to a career naval aviator and wife, Edward Raynold Hawley and Maythel Jensen Hawley. Before she was 18, she had lived on three continents and in 9 cities on or around naval air stations in California, Hawaii, Washington State, Massachusetts, Virginia, Morocco, Spain, and Georgia. Upon her father's retirement, he brought the family back to his hometown, San Diego.
In most cities, Marilyn would be at the stables riding horses or at home grooming pets. She was an avid dog lover and very proficient at obedience training. Marilyn was also very fond of finches and built multiple aviaries in her yard and was a member of several finch societies in San Diego. Visiting Marilyn was always an adventure since she also had cats, rabbits, and tortoises as pets.
Marilyn worked for San Diego County Air Pollution Control for 13 years before retiring. She had also worked for Mitchells Auto Repair Solutions and Silicon Beach Software.
Marilyn is survived by her brothers, Kent Hawley, Lloyd Hawley, and Bruce Hawley. She enjoyed playing with her niece, Christine Hawley, and her nephews, Scott and Ben Hawley. She was a loving daughter to her late parents and would always bring a friendly smile to family gatherings.
A graveside service will be held at Greenwood Memorial Park on July 10th at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the San Diego Humane Society in Marilyn's name.
