Marion Louise Patterson's Obituary
The world lost a mother, grandmother, and friend when Marion Louise Patterson passed away on October 30, 2017. She was 97 years old.Marion was born on January 14, 1920 to Marion Ballard White and Warren Starr Barnum in the Bronx, NYC, New York. Marion was a graduate of Russell Sage College, where she met and married William Baldwin on December 27, 1941.Together they had four children: Bill Baldwin, Judy Baldwin, Dale Brendon and Sandy Weiss. In 1964, she married Nevin Adamson, who passed away in 1978. She found love again with Charles Patterson in 1982, until his death in 2009.Although Marion Louise Patterson has been called home to the Lord, here on Earth she will always be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, predeceased by her son Bill Baldwin in 2016. She is survived by her three daughters Judy Baldwin, Dale Brendon and Sandy Weiss; seven grandchildren: Gwen Baldwin, Kurt Brendon, Trent Brendon, Bethany Brendon, Travis Weiss, Lucas Weiss and Mikey Baldwin; and great-grandchildren: Claire and Audrey Brendon. Those who knew her best could speak volumes about her, Eleanor Roosevelt once said “Do what you feel in your heart to be right – for you’ll be criticized anyway.” A fierce advocation for others, this quote always comes to mind when thinking about Marion. Those who knew her best were fond of her blunt, always genuine, straightforwardness. She always spoke from her heart, never holding herself back, guided by the principle that honesty was always the best policy.Aside from being a true matriarch, Marion was often a friend to many in their time of need. At Pacifica Senior Living, where she spent the last years of her life, she met Pat. On Pat’s first day at the facility, knowing no one, she sat alone at the lunch tables. Marion introduced herself straight forth, inviting Pat to join her and her friends for lunch for that day and every day. Marion saw a person in need, and she acted to fill that need with the kindness of her soul.Marion will be missed by all who knew her, and we can take comfort in knowing that she left with her work complete.
