Celebrating the life of our beloved daughter Maritza Gomez who recently passed on July 5, 2023
Maritza was born on November 6, 1974, in San Diego Ca. She was the first child and the first grandchild.
She lived in Frankfurt Germany, Texas, and San Diego where she resided the rest of her life.
Maritza, also known as Meri, was a wonderful daughter, sister, mother to her beloved Elizabella Leyla (Lizzie) and a great friend, her longest friendship of 38 years with the Flatts family was truly treasured.
Maritza was a lovely, vibrant, and kind daughter who touched the lives of all around her.
Maritza was very close to her mom Emma, and were best of friends, they often participated in charities and events side by side, they truly enjoyed each other’s company. Maritza was dedicated to raising her beloved Elizabella, as well as her nieces Leilani Bella and Ariel Lucy, she called them her three princesses, they were her pride and joy. Maritza adored her brothers Eric and Chris, called them her babies, and always kept them close.
We are devastated such an amazing, beautiful soul was taken too soon. She will always live in our
Hearts. We are Blessed to have had her in our lives but know she is in Peace in God’s hands,
She attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic School, Our Lady of Angels Catholic School, Chula Vista High School, Southwestern College, University of California San Diego. She earned her Medical Assistance License in 1994, Medical Records -Legal Correspondence Diploma University of California San Diego 2012
Southwestern College Child Development 2015 Certification, worked for Sharp Health Care Legal Correspondence, Family Health Centers -Medical Records.
Maritza kept in touch with close friends and relatives that were a constant in her life, loved meeting up with them, especially her cousin-best friend Dyana Castro who was at her bedside till the end. Maritza loved traveling with family, arts and crafts, the Ocean, baking and cooking, and walks in the park., she loved music, which was played throughout the day, her favorite Holiday was Christmas, and yes, the 3 princesses were spoiled by auntie Meri. Maritza was a devoted member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Was involved in Catholic Youth Clubs and Charities, Volunteer for San Diego County Foster and Adoptions
