Mark A. Hudspeth's Obituary
Mark Hudspeth was born on October 7, 1964, at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, California, to Barbara and Chester Hudspeth. He was welcomed into a loving family by his sisters, Carletta and Sandra, and his brother, Chester Hudspeth Jr.
During his early childhood, Mark lived with his family in military housing in Coronado, California. When he was five years old, the family relocated to San Diego, where he attended school in the Skyline community.
Throughout his life, Mark worked in a variety of roles. He was employed for a time as a custodian at the Amphibious Base in Coronado and later worked intermittently as a handyman and in demolition.
Family was an important part of Mark's life. Following the births of his children, he embraced the role of a devoted single father, affectionately becoming “Mr. Mom.” In 2015, he continued as the single parent to his oldest child. Later, beginning in 2018, Mark lovingly assisted in the care of his bedridden brother, Chester, until Chester's passing in 2021.
Mark was a sensitive, private, and quiet man whose love for his family was evident to those who knew him best. He enjoyed scary movies, spending time on social media, fried chicken, and Twinkies. Though reserved by nature, he shared a deep affection for the people he loved.
Mark leaves behind a cherished family to mourn his passing and celebrate his life. He is survived by his children, Isaiah Hudspeth, Anthony Hudspeth, and Amelia Hudspeth; his sister, Carletta Edwards; and his nieces and nephews, Carletta (Cliff Jr., Colette, and Craig), Sandra Slater (Alex Wiley IV), and Chester Hudspeth Jr. (Alan and twins Brandon and Brittany), as well as several grandnieces and grandnephews.
Mark will be remembered for his quiet strength, his devotion to family, and the care and support he gave to those he loved. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
