Martinez, Marta's Obituary
Marta Martinez lived a life filled with family, quiet joy, and appreciation for life’s little treasures.
Marta spent more than 40 years working at Cubic and its related company, where she was known for her loyalty, dedication, and steady work ethic. Still, the heart of Marta’s life was found in everyday moments and in the people she loved.
She enjoyed reading, caring for plants, and baking for family and friends. She also had a gift for turning an ordinary outing into an adventure. A stop at a thrift store, swap meet, or especially a yard sale could instantly brighten her day—often announced with her familiar and enthusiastic, “Ohhh! A yard sale!”
Family was at the center of Marta’s life. She loved gathering for Thanksgiving cooking, tamale assembly lines, and Christmas gift opening, finding joy in traditions and in making others feel cared for. She especially delighted in spoiling her nieces and nephews, and she was happiest when everyone was together.
She will also be remembered for her baking—bringing favorite treats that family looked forward to year after year, including her pineapple upside-down cake and her brother’s favorite powdered pecan balls.
Marta shared her home and heart with beloved pets Lady and Lola, who brought her companionship and happiness over the years.
Those closest to Marta knew her unique sense of humor and the little things that made her unmistakably herself. One trait the family will always smile about is that she was famously late. Somehow, she always arrived on Marta time—even when the start time had been carefully padded in hopes of getting her there “on time.”
More than anything, Marta will be remembered for her generous spirit, her steady presence, and the joy she brought to everyday moments.
Her memory will live on in the stories, traditions, recipes, and thrift store treasures she leaves behind.
Marta was preceded in death by her parents, Ignacio Martinez Sr. and Anita Perez Martinez.
She is survived by her loving sister, Teresa Taylor, and her husband, Paul; her brother, Ignacio Martinez, and his wife, Cindy; her nephews, Nate King, Christopher Taylor, and Kellen Martinez; her niece, Ania Martinez; and many beloved cousins and extended family members.
To honor Marta’s wish to be remembered with joy and color, those who wish to send flowers are invited to choose bright, cheerful arrangements and send them to Greenwood Memorial Park and Mortuary.
Services will be held on June 26th, beginning at 10 a.m.
