Reflections on the Life of … Martha Pearl Martin On September 9th, 2021 the Lord called Martha Pearl Martin home to rest. Martha “Mawmaw, as she was affectionately called was born on August 26, 1937 to Pear Dumas and John Dumas in Brawly California. Martha moved to San Diego Ca in 1941 attended Stockton elementary and moved back to Brawly Ca were she completed her high school education at Brawly High. Martha worked for Diving Unlimited as a Manufacturing employee making scuba diving wetsuits. She also worked for Brighton Place a convalescent home amongst to many other jobs. At an early age Martha accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and savior and faithfully served as a Sunday school teacher. In 1965, Martha Pearl Dumas met Albert Martin Jr in San Diego Ca. On August 26 1971 (her birthday) she joined in holy matrimony to Albert. They were blessed and happily married for 50 years. Martha and Albert enjoyed each other’s company and spending time with their grandkids. She also loved joking, laughing, cooking and most of all shopping. Mawmaw was a feisty but a caring woman she would do anything for her family and friends. On Thursday September 9th 2021, two weeks after her 84th birthday Martha heard her name being called and received her key to the Pearly Gates of Heaven. She was proceeded in death by her parents John and Pearl Dumas, Brother John Dumas, Sister Maxine Dumas, son Jimmy Lee Reliford, Brother Ninny Dumas, Sister Aida Dumas, Brother Dinny Dumas, and Brother George Dumas. Martha leaves to cherish her memories, husband Albert Martin Jr “Papa”, Brother Willie Dumas (Sallie), Sister Williemae Dumas, daughter Barbara Duckett “Tiny, Margret Duckett , Debra Duckett “Stinker”, Robert Davis “Puni”, Eric Duckett, and Charlotte Rider. She also leaves fifteen grandkids, 30 great-grandkids, in-laws Lemann Brown (Joyce), Joeann Lee of Oakland California, Andrew Tucker of Las Vegas Nevada and a host of nephews, nieces, family and close friends.
