Mary Lou Clark's Obituary
Mary Lou (Friar) Clark was born on June 29, 1953, in San Diego to Robert and Mildred (Johnson) Friar. Mary Lou attended Helix High school in La Mesa and was a member of the Choir and Drill Team, known as the Hi-Steppers. She was a member of the Windsor Hills Baptist Church Youth Choir, where she traveled throughout southern California, singing at local churches. Upon high school graduation, Mary Lou began working for Pacific Bell, which led her to San Diego Gas & Electric where she worked as a telecommunications specialist for 35+ years. She stayed in touch with many of her Helix friends over the years, spending vacations and birthdays together.
Mary Lou loved to host gatherings for friends and family, such as Thanksgiving, Christmas and birthday parties. She also loved to host Bunco nights for friends. Her hobbies included quilting, cooking, and gardening in her backyard. She loved to share her home whenever possible.
She regularly attended church at Windsor Hills Baptist, Del Cerro Baptist, Gateway Baptist, The Church at Rancho Bernardo, and Shadow Mountain Community Church. She was strong in her faith.
On November 9, 2024, Mary Lou passed away after an 18-month battle with lung cancer. Her last days were spent surrounded by family and friends that she touched in some small way throughout her life.
Mary Lou is survived by her son, Jeff Clark and his wife Yasi, their 3 sons Oliver, Wesley and Grant; daughter, Lisa Hadley and her husband Kevin, their 2 sons Luke and Ryan; sister, Sue Thompson; brother, Bob Friar and his wife Signe; Brother, David Friar and his wife Fran; Sister, LuJean Conrad and her husband John.
