Mary D. Vik's Obituary
Mary Dolores (Rimoldi) Vik was born on September 6th, 1928 to Emma and Phillip Rimoldi. She passed away peacefully on June 20th, 2018.Mary was an only child and lived everyday to it’s fullest. She met the love of her life while working as a bank teller. A handsome, young, sailor by the name of Robert Vik, stood in her line to cash his paycheck week after week. There were shorter lines, but he had his heart set on a first date with Mary. He got up his nerve, and that moment lead to 59 years of love, laughter and adventure in marriage. They traveled the world and made many friends and special memories. Though he was a Montana boy at heart, they made their happy home in the friendly Talmadge Subdivision of San Diego.Mary worked for years in the San Diego youth court system in the probation department. She had many stories she loved to share. She always saw the “good “ in the young people she met, and she made a difference in many of their lives.Mary was a proud active life member of the Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority, Beta Sigma Chapter. She proudly spoke of her sorority and the close bond she had with her sisters.She loved her family and had a special place in her heart for their dog, CoCo.Mary’s known survivors include: her brother in law, Archie (Judy) Vik, Boulder City, NV., her sister in law, Tootsie (Bob) Gardner, Great Falls, MT., her sister in law, Polly Vik, Great Falls, MT., eight nieces and nephews and many special lifelong friends.Mary’s known family members who proceeded her in death were her parents, Emma and Phillip Rimoldi;Her husband, Robert (Bob); brother-in-law, Bill Vik; her sister-in-law, Betty and her husband, Stan Hall.A special thank you to Grossmont Gardens, La Mesa, Stephanie Kormann with Siverado Hospice andMary’s many friends and neighbors that cared for her.If there are Margaritas in heaven, she’s toasting with all her loved ones to the spectacular life she lived.Services are Thursday, June 28th , 11:00 AM at Greenwood Salli Lynn Chapel, 4300 Imperial Ave. Reception to follow. Interment at Greenwood Memorial Park, San Diego.
