E'Golf, Mary Ann's Obituary
Mary Ann E’Golf of La Mesa, California passed away in her home of over 50 years in the early hours of December 21st, 2024. She was 90 years old. The only daughter of Rex Taylor and Lovina (Woodby) Taylor, Mary Ann was born on Flag Day, June 14th, 1934 in Los Angeles, California, and spent her early childhood in San Diego, Los Angeles, Glendale, and regularly visited her parents’ extended family in Tennessee.
After graduating from Glendale High School in 1952, she went on to study at Glendale College prior to graduating from San Diego State College in 1958. While in college she joined the Gamma Phi Beta sorority and met her husband, Marvin Arthur E’Golf. She was later named Sweetheart of Marvin’s fraternity, Lambda Chi Alpha. They were married in 1957 and made their home in San Diego and La Mesa. Mary Ann supported her husband when he opened an accounting firm, while raising their two children Marvin Allen and Mary Alynn.
All holidays were special to her and we always celebrated her Flag Day birthday with Patriotic flair! But above all, Mary Ann’s favorite holiday was Christmas. It was always festive and it was clear that she put all her love into making everyone feel special. Her packages were meticulously wrapped with matching bows. The house was decorated, Christmas music was playing, her table was perfectly set and all were welcome.
Mary Ann loved to travel and took several trips with her many close friends. She loved adventure and was always willing to try new things. She visited many exciting destinations in Europe, but also knew that the journey was just as important! With her husband she flew on the supersonic Concorde and cruised on the Queen Elizabeth II ocean liner.
Mary Ann may best be remembered for her active role in IORG, a youth leadership and mentorship program for young women. Joining Glendale Assembly as a girl in 1948, she was a member until her Majority at age 20, serving as Grand Worthy Associate Advisor in California in 1953-1954. At 18, Mary Ann joined Glen Oaks Eastern Star Chapter in 1952. She remained active in IORG as an adult once her daughter joined in 1976. She served as a Grand Deputy and was a member of the California IORG Scholarship committee for 24 years. She also served for many years on the Advisory Boards of La Mesa and Lemon Grove Assemblies. Above all, Mary Ann loved watching her daughter and granddaughters enjoy their Rainbow adventures the way she enjoyed hers. Throughout all these years she mentored and assisted countless young women throughout Southern California and beyond.
Mary Ann is predeceased by her husband of 41 years in 1998 and her son in 2016. She is survived by her loving daughter, Mary Alynn Fallon (Jim) and Granddaughters Jessica Mary Fallon and Julie Ann Fallon. There are no mere words that could sum up the massive scope of the love and caring that she poured into her family and her friends. She will be dearly missed, but her memory will always be a blessing to all who knew her.
