Mary N. Esquibel
Mary, 90, of San Diego California passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 12, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.
Mom was born in Albuquerque New Mexico. She met the love of her life, Adolph Esquibel in 1946. In 1953 they decided to move to San Diego, California for a better future for their family but not before getting a promise from dad that they would only give it a year. In addition to being a full-time mom, she was active in her parish Our Lady of Angels as a school volunteer and was always ready to help out.
Mom was strong, smart, opinionated, hard-working, concerned for others, generous and always ready to give back. She instilled these qualities in her children.
Mom was active in VFW Post 7420. She moved up the chairs to become President of the Auxiliary in
1976–77.
She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a devout Catholic. Mom enjoyed her retirement traveling with Dad, Sylvia, and other siblings.
She loved to dance. She and dad won dance contests and she enjoyed hosting and celebrating all the holiday dinners. She had a reputation for being a great cook and baker and was proud of her New Mexico roots and culture.
She was famous for her red and green chili, posole and biscochitos she made for Christmas.
Mom was preceded in death by her parents Max and Sadie Nuanes and her husband Adolph. They were married for 63 years.
Mom is survived by her eight children Priscilla Alcoser, Vangie Reyes (Ernie), Cliff Esquibel, Ernie Esquibel (Susan), Felix Esquibel, Steve Esquibel (Christie), Cecilia Miranda (Mark) and Sylvia. Brothers Jose Nuanes (Joan), Albert Nuanes (Nancy). She is survived by her 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
The legacy and greatest achievement that mom spoke about was her Family.

Monday, March 1, 2021 from 5:00pm to 9:00 pm at Greenwood Garden Chapel.
Rosary and Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at 9:00am Funeral Mass at 10:00am.
Committal/Burial March 2, 2021 at 11:30 am at Greenwood Memorial Park.
