Mary Elvira Gonzales' Obituary
Maria Elvira Gonzales 4/15/1919 – 10/1/2019 Mary was born in San Diego and raised by her mother, Julia Gonzales, and grandmother, Catalina Mendoza. She had two brothers, Frank and Henry. She went to Memorial Jr. High, married young and had seven beautiful children (five girls and two boys). During war time she worked at Rohr Aircraft, then at the Van Camp Seafood cannery for 15 years and then retired after working at Mercy Hospital for over 20 years. While caring for her husband who had gone blind, she was inspired to volunteer at the Blind Center in her retirement years. She loved going out to eat with family, cooking for family and hosting/attending family gatherings. Mary and her husband were married for a total of 57 years when he passed away in 1993. She lived with one of her daughter’s before she spent her last few years at Villa Las Palmas in El Cajon where she was often found in the lobby either people watching or chatting with the other residents. Mary Gonzales is survived by: 6 Children 14 Grandchildren 22 Great-Grandchildren and 5 Great-Great-Grandchildren#blessed
