Mary Frances Krumm-Barker's Obituary
Mary was born in San Diego to Stanley Thompson and Emily Searle (from England). Stanley was stationed in Hawaii Where much of Mary’s earlier education was done. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, a member of the Tau Jetta Rho, A member of an archaeology club in San Diego where she had the honor of placing items into a Presidio Park. She finished high school in San Diego where she met Harry Krumm at a basketball game. She married him in 1956 at St. Paul’ Church in San Diego.She attended San Diego State University and became a kindergarten teacher for twenty-five years.She liked to fish at Lake Jennings from their boat, made uniforms for Bonnies Chargettes and Barbara’s formals for the Rainbow Girls, and was a Girl Scout leader and a Sunday school teacher. Other hobbies included painting pictures, needlepoint, and wood carving.Harry passed in 1977 and Mary remarried to Winfred Barker in 1985. She obtained a short-wave radio license, learned to make jewelry, and continued with her wood working earning ribbons at the Del Mar Fair. She and Fred also went camping with the Elks in their motorhome. She had a good life. We all loved her.Mary had two daughters: Bonnie and Barbara; seven grandchildren, and thirty great-grandchildren.
