Max Vocal's Obituary
Maximilliano “Max” Vocal, 81 yrs young, of San Diego, California, passed on Saturday, November 30, 2019, after a 16yr battle with cancer. He was surrounded at the time by his loving family.Max is survived by his wife Alicia of 40 years, daughters Kelley (Dan) Roberts, Elizabeth (Scott) Powers, Sandra (Alfonso) Moreno, only son Marcos (Lorie) Vocal, Marcia (Ruben) Alamo, and Eliza (Cesar) Aguilar, his loving grandchildren Mae, Natalie, Jesse, Aaron, Marbella, Ethan, Rosali, and Victoria, and his sister Ines Rocha, her daughter Annabell Skripek and family, along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins from his native Bolivia and Argentina.Max was born on March 26, 1938 to Francisco and Eliza Numbela Vocal in Cochabamba, Bolivia, where he lived his adolescence. Soon after graduating from school, Max migrated to the United States where he became a proud U.S. citizen and lived his beautiful life. Max worked and retired from Scripps Mercy Hospital after 41yrs of loyal service in 2003 as the Food Service Manager. Max enjoyed his life along with his wife and family as he worked hard to maintain his roots and instill “Family Togetherness”. Being the exceptional hard worker, father figure and provider, Max worked an additional 10 yrs as a landscaper. Max always maintained a “can-do spirit” and was known by many to have an amazing heart. Max touched many with his infectious smile and laughter that brought so much happiness to all, he was loved by many.Max enjoyed many hobbies in life from gardening, cycling, playing soccer, traveling, to never missing the opportunity to watch a boxing match, and of course spending time with his family and friends. Max will forever be remembered for his kind heart, warm hands, and known for being a man amongst men.Visitation will be held from 3-7p Sunday December 15, 2019 at Greenwood Memorial Park, 4300 Imperial Ave, San Diego CA 92113. Memorial Services for Max Vocal will be held at 11a Monday, December 16, 2019 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 1770 Kearney Ave, San Diego, CA 92113, followed by precession and funeral service and reception at the Greenwood Memorial Park.
