I don’t have many but I do have good memories of Mr.Gutierrez. I remember when I sparred after being with the Gutierrez boxing gym for a month he came out to see me spar and complimented me on my boxing and added “you box good but it would be better and you would get hit less if you moved your head.” I would see him everyday coming in and out of the gym and by the look in his eyes and being around him you can see he had a good heart. I will never forget the stories my dad and the rest of the Gutierrez family tell me about him. He is watching over all of us and I know he will continue to watch over the Guterriez boxing team; he’s the angel in our corner.Fly high Max and God bless

My favorite memory with Max was him inviting me to eat breakfast with his amazing wife and him after sweeping the gym on a Saturday morning. Max will always be loved and remembered.

The first time i Matt Max in 1976 as a little boy. As a young boxer. I had the opportunity to share some time with him and the young team of Boxers. He always gave us his time . I road in the back of his truck to Brawley California. Vista TJ .etc. Later on in life he opened up his house and Gym for my oldest son. Years later..i always wanted to thank him for all he has done for many young fighters. I will always remember him as a great man..Max I know you hear me now Thank You, for all the great you've done. My fondest memory of Tio Chimino was when I visited him at his home & he related stories about him & my dad. He always told me that he used to carry us as children & while he told me stories his smile was from one ear to the other. He also taught me how to prepare fideo soup with chili jalapeño juice & veggies. Oh tostaditas or chips were an accompanying side snack with this soup.

My uncle Chimino was a very kind person. I remember living with him and his family and he treated me like his own daughter. He was a fun, loving, caring person, and had a big heart.
