MGySgt Henry Anderson, Jr., USMC Ret's Obituary
Henry Anderson, known to many as “Andy”, “Gunny” and “Mr. Wonderful”, passed away at the age of 77 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born to Pearl and Henry Anderson of Kenner, Louisiana. He enlisted in 1960 and served his country as a United States Marine retiring as Master Gunnery Sergeant in 1984. He also worked as an Engineer in Naval Avionics at North Island Naval Air Base where he formed life-long friendships and retired in 2003. In 1966 Henry married Virginia Claussell of Puerto Rico. Theirs was a union of unwavering love and devotion for over 50 years which created two daughters whom he always showered with love. He resided in San Diego until 2017 when his condition required moving to Las Vegas for more personal attention provided by his wife and eldest daughter. Henry touched so many lives and is known for his various talents and attributes. Depending on who you ask, he was a great artist, an amazing chef, a dedicated man of God, a loyal friend, a fisherman, a comedian, an outstanding father or just an incredible human being who gave of himself time and time again and asked for nothing in return. Henry is survived by his loving wife, Virginia, daughters Yvette and Lisa, his five grandchildren-Henry, Christalynn, Debrianah, Ajahnelle and Vaughndell, three great-grandchildren, Jeramy, Rayshawn and Tyler, brother Jalal, and sister Miriam. He will be greatly missed by countless friends, family and extended family who love him like their own. He will always be fondly remembered by anyone fortunate enough to be a part of his life.
