Michael W. Bailey's Obituary
Michael W. Bailey, a San Diego, California native, was born on December 20, 1938 to proud parents Margaret Eleanor Tubesing and Cremar Hollis Bailey. He passed away peacefully at his son's residence in El Cajon, California on March 11, 2021 at the age of 82.
Mike did not put a lot of thought into his military career. Right after high school a friend of his basically just said, “Hey! Let’s go join the Air Force.” So they went down and joined. He wasn’t sure what he actually wanted to do in the Air Force and eventually ended up working as a bartender in the Officer’s Club. Which was fitting since he spent quite a bit of time at his dad’s bar after school working on his homework. A few years later Mike realized he really didn’t like being in the military and received an honorable discharge through an early release program. Mike spent much of his free time racing cars with his friends, riding motorcycles, skiing and getting his pilot’s license. Eventually Mike married his longtime girlfriend Suzy and they had three boys; a set of twins, Eric and Bill, and then Scott. Like most brothers they occasionally had their differences, but have always got along pretty well and are all good friends to this day. While Mike and Suzy’s marriage did not last, they parted amicably and remained friends until the very end. Mike was always a big fan of science fiction, outer space, and computers and even earned a degree in computer science from Grossmont College. While very shy most of his life, as he grew older he became more social, first online with World of Warcraft, where he made friends all across the country, then with Meetup.com where he became a member of the Temecula Chess Club, the Temecula Valley Atheist and several Meet-Up Book Clubs. He is survived by his the sons and their wives, Eric and Amy, Bill and Stephanie, and Scott and Kathy and 5 grandchildren, Liam, Jack, Josh, Sam and Alex.
Funeral services will be performed at Greenwood Memorial Park - Salli Lynn Chapel, 4300 Imperial Ave. San Diego, CA 92113 on Saturday, April 24 at 11am.
