I met Michael in law school in the 70s through a mutual friend, Michael Sheehan of St. Louis. The three were of us often met at a bar called Wild Bill’s in downtown San Diego in the late evenings, after hours of study. Wild Bill’s was in between our two law schools in those days. I kept in contact with both Michaels, and I often ran into Michael Burke on the streets of downtown San Diego and at various events. Michael was one of the few people who could make me laugh out loud, and he was a very creative defense lawyer. At least once he showed a clip from a popular movie in his closing argument. I’ll bet jurors loved that. I miss him.
