Mildred Millie Belle Orton's Obituary
Mildred “Millie” Belle OrtonMay 7, 1929 – December 23, 2013 “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33Millie was born in Sumner, Iowa on May 7, 1929 to Ervin and Ellena Beougher. She was raised in Phoenix Arizona. In 1957 she moved to San Diego, California to raise her family. They then moved to Flinn Springs, California in 1959. Millie had a variety of careers and passions in her life. Working in a bakery in her younger years she was known for her beautiful cakes and pastries. Her hand made dolls and artwork are legendary among friends and family. She loved being active in every aspect of her life. From sharpshooting to exploring; from owning a gold mine to recovering from her stroke in 2003; there was no woman more determined to go the distance than Millie, especially when she put her mind on something. For many years she owned a home for Intellectually Disabled young men and loved every second of it. While they were in school she drove the Special Education bus for the Grossmont School District. From 1968, her mother Ellena lived with her until her passing in 1991. After moving to Parowan, Utah, Millie was a caregiver to the elderly. Millie was a member of the Avon President’s Club in 2011. She was very proud of that. Always one to be involved in all the fun, she loved planning and creating parties. She loved family, friends, and laughter. Every holiday and every special occasion were enjoyed like the very first. She loved to dance and sing (she could sing, too) She participated in Senior Centers wherever she was. She won first place in Costume Contests all the time. She adored her “puppy,” her little sweet love, Lil’ Bit. In 2006 Millie moved to live with her daughter Jessica McGill and her husband Tim Berberich in Palmer, Alaska. In July 2012 Millie went for a stay with her son John McGill and his wife Lee in Colorado Springs, Colorado while Tim and Jessica relocated to El Cajon, California. She moved back in with Jessie and her husband soon after. Millie passed away on December 23, 2013 at the age of 84. She was preceded in death by her husband Caudell Orton, her parents Ervin and Ellena Beougher, oldest brother Keith Beougher, sister Mavis Guthrie, brother Russell Beougher, grandsons Kenneth McGill & Norman Wolf, and two stepdaughters, Sidney Wolf and Margaret Keller. Surviving are her sister Dorothy Thomas; three sons Wayne Banta, Walter McGill, and John McGill, and their wives; daughter Jessica McGill, and her husband; 20 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 19 great-great Grandchildren, 3 great-great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.Only God knows the true hearts of his children. We all have our own memories and our own truths of this life with Millie, with this being the absolute truth: “We will always remember that beautiful, lovely, feisty, and handful of a woman that was Millie.” Our world, among other things, is less for her departure, and our lives richer for her love and devotion to us and ours. I read a book once that described the end of times as Jesus holding and speaking to you as if you were His only love. I know He loves us all, but I hope my Grandma got to sit in His lap and get a love; what a woman. Lovingly written by Millie’s granddaughter, Jennifer Kaye
