Millicent H. Barnett's Obituary
Millicent Barnett, 79, passed away peacefully on the morning of October 25, 2015 in San Diego, California. She was born in Los Angeles, California on April 6, 1936. Millicent was baptized in the Shiloh SDA Church (later K St. SDA Church) in San Bernardino in the late 1940s and was faithful member of the Paradise Valley Seventh Day Adventist Church in National City, California for over 50 years.Millicent graduated from Loma Linda Academy in 1954. She had a kind heart and a passion to serve others and decided to pursue a career in nursing. She began her studies in the fall of 1954 at the Paradise Valley school of Nursing and graduated in 1957. She went on to pass the state boards and became a licensed Registered Nurse. Millicent spent the majority of her professional career at Visiting Nurses Association, Mount Helix Hospital and UCSD Medical Center.Millicent met her husband, Izett S. Barnett Sr. in National City, California in 1957 while she attended nursing school. They married on February 16, 1958 at the K Street SDA Church in San Bernardino and were together for 56 years. On December 10, 1964 their only child Izett Stanford Barnett Jr. was born.Millicent held an unwavering faith in God. Her life was about family, friends and caring for others. She was a loving, devoted wife and mother. We all knew Millicent to be full of spunk, energy and was always out and about enjoying life to the fullest. Going on a cruise was one of her favorite activities to do.Millicent also loved music and was a wonderful pianist. Friday and Sabbath evening vespers were filled with beautiful piano and organ music while her husband and son sang along.Millicent is survived by her son Izett Barnett Jr, sister Hyacinth Clark, and brothers Theodore Johnson and Eugene Brown.
