Samia, Moemoe's Obituary
Moemoe Laufau Samia Our darling and dearest mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Moemoe Laufau Samia passed away peacefully on March 8, 2025 at the golden age of 89 years in San Diego, CA. She was born on February 26, 1936 in Western Samoa to Fuamalo Taelase Amituana'i (Nua/Seetaga) and Evaimalo Laufau Tagaloa (Saoluafata).
She married John Poleta Samia, Jr in November 1966 and spent their lives together in American Samoa (Fagatogo/Iliili) working, playing, and raising their children. We know she was embraced with love in heaven by our father, John (February 2004), youngest son John Paul (June 2023), and numerous loved ones gone before her.
Our mother is affectionately remembered by her children: Jerry (Yvonne), Robert, Yonne (RIL), Lilinoe, Paulette, Annie, Deiano (Jay), Michael (Susana) and John Paul (RIL) Samia; Tavita Elisara, Poasu Maseuli; adoring grandchildren and great grandchildren; supportive cousins, nieces, and nephews; extended family members; and kindhearted family friends.
Friday, 25 April, 2025 A Celebration of Life to honor our beloved mother will take place at: Greenwood Memorial Park and Mortuary 4300 Imperial Ave. San Diego CA 92113 Garden Chapel 9am Viewing, 11am Funeral Liturgy Service, 12pm Lunch
