Moses Jack Johnson's Obituary
Moses Jack Johnson (Jack) was born in Cumberstone, Maryland on September 8th 1935 to the late Dan Johnson and Louise Brent. He attended schools in Annapolis, Maryland. Jack was a member of Chews Memorial United Methodist Church, where he sang in several gospel groups. In his youth, he enjoyed playing baseball in local African American leagues such as the Harwood Grays.Jack joined the United States Navy in 1951, protecting our country as a Boatswain’s mate for twenty-six years. In 1978, he retired as a Chief Petty Officer in San Diego California. His favorite hobbies included bowling in local leagues, watching sports, and attending Bayview Baptist Church.Jack was called home on February 27, 2018 passing peacefully in his sleep, surrounded by family.Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Frances Johnson; Two sons: Dewayne Davis and Demond Johnson of San Diego; Three daughters: Yvette Austin of Annapolis, Donna Karasiewicz of San Diego, and Tyshia Johnson of Las Vegas; Grandchildren: Renard Austin of Annapolis, Marcus Mackell of San Diego, David DeLeon of Annapolis, Richard Karasiewicz of San Diego, Michael Karasiewicz of San Diego, Sylvia McGowin of Annapolis, Brian Matthews of Richmond; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.Jack will be missed by all those who knew him, and his memories will be cherished by those he loved.
