Nick J. Koucoumaris' Obituary
Nick John Koucoumaris was born in Patmos, Greece to John and Sophia Koucoumaris. He grew up in Martins Ferry, Ohio. Nick served as a Seaman 1st Class in the US Navy from 1944-1946. Upon his return from the service he worked in the steel mills in Ohio and at the Wheeling Downs Race Track.He married Sylvia Joseph on July 6, 1946. They moved to Lemon Grove, CA in 1956. Nick worked in the San Diego produce markets for over 35 years. He married Marie Melendez on December 31, 1983 after the loss of Sylvia.Nick is predeceased by his first wife Sylvia and his second wife Marie. Nick is survived by his brother Steve Koucoumaris, daughters Ann Mroz and Sophia Mackwood, his grandchildren Sarah Barrett, Nick Mroz, Kristen Watson, Jessica Mackwood, and great grandsons Dillen Watson, Colin Mroz, Michael Mroz, and Tegan Barrett.Our family wishes to thank the Elizabeth Hospice Team and his caregivers Paul and Celine for taking such excellent care of Nick.A Trisagion Service will be held at 7:00 pm in the Longfellow Slumber Room on September 12, 2017 with the Funeral Mass at Greenwood Garden Chapel on September 13, 2017 from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pmThe Family suggest sending Memorial contributions to Elizabeth Hospice or the American Heart Association.
