Nikki Rae Koopman Smith 03/16/54 – 02/28/18Nikki was the quintessential California Girl. Born and raised in San Diego County, she loved the beach, the mountains and the desert. Most of all she loved her family and friends.Nikki married her high school sweetheart Mike and they were together for 43 years, until her passing. They shared a unique and unbreakable bond that will forever be cherished.Preceding her to heaven were her parents Pearl and Marvin Koopman, her sister Maryellen Stapel, her brother Brett Koopman and her father in law, Morris Smith.Nikki was in the dental industry for 30 years, first as a dental assistant then as an administrator.Nikki kept a beautiful home and loved nothing more than to have friends and family over for celebrations and reunions.She felt her greatest achievement was her daughter Jamie and son Justin. She was particularly proud of the spouses they chose (Jamie/Jeff and Justin/Cynthia), the careers they both excelled in and of course, the light of her life, her grandchildren, Olivia & Wyatt and twins Rio & Luca.She leaves behind her beloved brother John Koopman. His devotion to Nikki never faltered throughout the years and for this she was enormously grateful. She also leaves behind her mother in law, Shirley Smith and many nieces and nephews, all whom she loved with all of her heart.Close Friends may join the family for a memorial on Saturday, March 17th @ 3:00PM at The Bernardo Winery in Rancho Bernardo -13330 Paseo Del Verano Norte, San Diego, CA 92128.
